Still Going...

Spring Break 2013 is officially over; in just a short time I'll be setting out tomorrow's work clothes. I thought I'd share some of the work I was able to accomplish over break:

What you see are 2 1/2 more cabinets emptied, and placed on tables for the staff to pick and choose from before the contents are eliminated forever. An extensive collection of waffle irons, blenders, toasters, coffee makers, spatulas, etc, etc that are AT LEAST three decades old. Not to mention an enormous collection of glass - GLASS - serving ware. Who on Earth gives glassware to two dozen seventh graders in a small, contained space??

I keep inching closer and closer to getting these rooms under control. Maybe by the start of next school year, if I'm allowed in the building at all over the summer. Wish me luck!

  1. Amen about the glass. My first classroom had quite the assortment of crystal. I didn't quite understand that. One of the High School FACS teachers took it off my hands to use for their serving assignments. It took me 3 years to clean out our FACS rooms- the teacher before me had been there for 30 years and had filing cabinets of worksheets to prove it. Oy.

    1. Hi Kendall,
I had an open house - I set everything out on some tables, and announced to the staff they could come by and "shop" at set times. I tell you what, everything FLEW off of those tables, it was unbelievable! People love junk!
Thanks for reading and commenting! :)

  3. This is seriously my life right now!! I just don't even understand how a 4 year old building has such ancient crap in it!! (Sorry totally stumbled into your blog land when I started my job last month, and stalked back to Spring break 2k13 looking for ideas to put on my classroom wishlist)
